Saccharomyces boulardii is a natural, alternative and beneficial, non-pathogenic, non-colonizing species of yeast. It has been clinically recognized for its top of its class effectiveness in reducing the symptoms of antibiotic-associated diarrhea and Clostridium difficile infection, which can result from antibiotic use, hospitalization or traveling abroad. Saccharomyces boulardii significantly reduces both the risk and the duration of diarrhea, inflammation, and symptoms best associated with IBS and IBD (Crohn's Disease and Ulcerative Colitis) symptoms. 

It has also been used to treat acute diarrhea and gastroenteritis in children with good results.
