My Story: How I Beat Ulcerative Colitis and IBS
Beginning Struggles
I am a graduate in biology and psychology at the University of Toronto. In 2014, I noticed that my digestive health was worsening. I was diagnosed with irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), but once I got a colonoscopy, I was also diagnosed with ulcerative colitis – a form of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). I was put on the medication known as mesalamine, the entry-level drug for IBD patients. Unfortunately, I experienced side effects immediately, and within just 2 months I was hospitalized to treat a flare-up caused by the drug:
The following discharge medications were prescribed to me, upon my discharge:
I tried taking mesalamine again as I was instructed by my doctors, but I kept getting sick each time I took it, so I had to stop. And while prednisone helped my gut symptoms, it came with a host of horrible side effects of its own, and so I knew that I couldn’t sustainably maintain remission with just this corticosteroid. I examined immunosuppressants and biologics as treatment options, but the reported side effects for these were even worse than prednisone. To top it off, biologics were extremely expensive – costing at least $20,000 per year.
Advice From My Father
My father suggested that I try natural remedies to heal myself, but I knew I would only go with treatment plans backed by research. So I decided to give the medical and scientific databases an attempt, to see if there was any research backing alternative treatments. To my surprise, the scientific databases were filled with countless scientific research articles supporting the use of natural treatments for both IBD and IBS.
Relief At Last
Within 2 years of experimentation, I started noticing immense results and was finally freed from my dependence on prednisone, and any prescription drug, for that matter. Shown below is my prescription history as of July 8 2021, and circled in red is the last time I took any prescription drug (February 23, 2017):
Soon, I was completely free of ulcerative colitis symptoms, and even lactose intolerance. At long last, I was in perfect remission, without needing any prescription drugs at all. Nonetheless, I continued to experiment until I had not one, but many natural, holistic and alternative treatment plans for IBD and IBS. My mother, who I inherited ulcerative colitis from, was the first IBD patient I advised. Within just 2-3 weeks of my treatment plan, she achieved lasting remission as well.
Evidence Of Remission
My mother and I took blood tests in June this year (2021), to see where our inflammatory markers stand against healthy patients. My results are shown below:
The numbers in the middle show my results, while those to the right are the ranges for healthy people. Shown in | | and | | are two different biomarkers that indicate inflammation in the body: Erythrocyte Sedimentation Rate (ESR) and C-Reactive Protein (CRP). Both indicators showed virtually no inflammation in my entire body! My hemoglobin levels, highlighted in | |, were within the normal range too– proving that I am experiencing no blood loss as a result of internal ulcers or ulceration.
My mother’s blood report indicated the same thing: clinically, both mine and my mother's IBD have been done away with. Click here to view my mother's testimonial on her recovery, together with other patients' who have seen their gut symptoms drastically improve with our treatment plans.
